Your day, naturally

More celebrating.
Less posing.

If you are planning a wedding at Rudding Park in Harrogate, Rudding House, the gardens, parkland and elegant reception spaces offer a wonderful variety of photographs without taking you away from your guests for long. I have photographed weddings here over a number of years and know how to work around the venue while keeping the day relaxed.

My approach is documentary-led: genuine moments, reactions and the people around you. Most photographs happen while you are enjoying your wedding, with short, natural portrait sessions when they fit comfortably into the day. You can explore more of my wedding photography approach and wedding photography gallery.

Usually 10–15 minutes for couple portraits. Rudding Park has several different backdrops within a short walk, so we can create variety without disappearing for an hour-long photoshoot. A few minutes after the ceremony and another short session later, if the light changes, often works better than one long session.

A little room to wander

Why Rudding Park photographs so well

Rudding House gives your photographs a classic, elegant backdrop. Mature gardens and parkland provide space for relaxed outdoor portraits, while Jupiter Terrace and the lawns offer outdoor ceremony settings. Strong indoor locations give us options when the weather changes. Because so many locations are close together, portrait sessions can stay short and relaxed.

Places to photograph: Rudding House for architecture; the mature gardens and parkland for natural portraits; Jupiter Terrace and the lawns for outdoor moments; and the house interiors when we need shelter. We choose locations around your timetable and the light on the day.

A few useful things to know

Rudding Park wedding photography FAQs

Have you photographed weddings at Rudding Park before? +

Yes. I have photographed weddings at Rudding Park over a number of years. Knowing the venue and how the different spaces work makes it much easier to fit photography naturally around your plans rather than making the photography dictate the wedding day.

How long do you need for couple photographs at Rudding Park? +

Usually around 10 to 15 minutes is plenty. There are several very different locations close together, so we can create a varied set of portraits without taking you away from your guests for a large part of the day. If the evening light becomes particularly good, we can always step outside again for another few minutes.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day? +

Rudding Park works particularly well in poor weather because we are not dependent on the gardens for photographs. The house and indoor spaces give us plenty to work with, and if we get a short break in the weather we can quickly make use of the grounds without disrupting the day.

Can you have an outdoor wedding ceremony at Rudding Park? +

Yes. Rudding Park offers outdoor ceremony options around the Jupiter Terrace and gardens, giving you a beautiful setting with Rudding House and the surrounding grounds as the backdrop.

Can you get married in the chapel at Rudding Park? +

The chapel can be used for a wedding blessing following a civil ceremony, rather than as the location for the legal marriage itself. It is a lovely and very distinctive part of the estate for couples who want to include it in their wedding day.

Do you offer wedding films at Rudding Park? +

Yes. I offer both photography and wedding videography at Rudding Park. Photography and film can be covered together, allowing the team to work around one another while keeping the experience relaxed and unobtrusive.
