Bolton Abbey wedding venue

Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey Wedding Photographer

If you are planning a wedding at The Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey, it is an incredible setting for relaxed, natural wedding photography. The scale and character of the historic barn, combined with the surrounding Yorkshire countryside, gives us plenty of variety without needing to turn your wedding day into a long photoshoot.

I photograph weddings in a relaxed, documentary-led way, capturing the real moments as they happen and stepping in with a little guidance when it helps. As a wedding photographer in Leeds and Yorkshire, my aim is to give you a complete story of the day while keeping you with your guests and enjoying it.

Why The Tithe Barn photographs so well

  • A spectacular early 16th-century barn full of character and texture
  • A huge interior that gives wedding photographs a real sense of scale
  • Views across the Bolton Abbey estate towards the Priory Ruins and River Wharfe
  • Yorkshire countryside and historic surroundings for relaxed couple photographs
  • Plenty of variety without needing to disappear for an hour-long portrait session

My approach to weddings at The Tithe Barn

Most of your wedding photographs should happen while you are actually enjoying your wedding. I concentrate on the reactions, conversations, laughter, family and all the little moments happening around you, rather than constantly stopping the day for photographs.

For couple portraits, we normally need around 10 to 15 minutes. I will give you enough direction so you never feel awkward, create a handful of beautiful portraits and then get you back to your guests.

Photography tip: you do not need to disappear for a huge portrait session at The Tithe Barn. A short session during the drinks reception, followed by another few minutes later if the light changes, gives you variety without missing your wedding.

Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey Wedding Photography FAQ

Have you photographed a wedding at The Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey?

Yes. The real wedding above was photographed at The Tithe Barn, so you can see how I approach the venue across a complete wedding day rather than judging it from a small portfolio of selected photographs.

How long do you need for couple photographs at The Tithe Barn?

Usually around 10 to 15 minutes is plenty. I prefer to keep portraits relaxed and efficient so you are not taken away from your guests for a large part of the day. If the light changes later, we can always step outside for another very short session.

What happens if it rains at a Tithe Barn wedding?

Rain does not mean your photographs stop. The barn itself gives us a fantastic setting and I work around the weather throughout the day. If we get a short dry spell, we can use it for a few outdoor photographs without changing the flow of your wedding.

Do you offer wedding videography at The Tithe Barn?

Yes. Photography and film can be covered together, with the same relaxed approach to both. You can find out more about wedding videography and the different film options available.
