Wedding Photographer

A beamed ceremony room, gardens with room to breathe and portraits beside the lake. Merrydale Manor gives a wedding story several different settings, while keeping the people at the heart of it.

Their photographs bring together quiet preparations in the house, the oak-beamed ceremony room dressed with white flowers, reactions from the guests and a confetti-filled exit. Outside, we used the lawns, garden paths and the jetty beside the fountain for a different feel to the couple portraits.

A calm approach to a day with plenty happening

I am Dave Spink, and I photograph weddings with a relaxed, natural approach. Having photographed Caitlin & James at Merrydale Manor, I can show you what those spaces look like during a real celebration, from preparations to the ceremony and a short walk through the grounds.

I look for what is happening around you as well as the big moments. The last touches before the ceremony, someone watching from the doorway, a guest laughing or a proud parent after the vows can say as much about a wedding as a portrait.

The ceremony room gives photographs a strong sense of place: beams above, generous windows and a clear view along the aisle. During Caitlin & James's ceremony I photographed both the wider room and the smaller reactions. Keeping movement low-key lets the ceremony unfold naturally.

For portraits, the garden paths and mature trees give us softer backgrounds, while the lake and jetty show more of the estate. I would plan a short first portrait slot and leave room for another if the light changes. You do not need to spend the whole reception away from your guests.

For family photographs, a short agreed list helps us work quickly. The lawns worked well for this wedding, with enough space to bring people together. We can arrange groups around access needs and where guests are already gathering.

If the weather changes, we adjust the timing and choose indoor portraits around the available light and the day's setup. The house and ceremony room offer a different look to the gardens. I would confirm which spaces are available with the venue before your day.

Planning your Merrydale Manor photographs

Tell me where you will be getting ready, your ceremony time and any people or moments you particularly want included. From there, we can build a simple photography plan around the celebration. Portraits near the water are always subject to weather, access and the venue's guidance.

If you would also like a film, we can talk through photography and film together. See my wedding films and Yorkshire wedding photography for more about the coverage and approach.
